Christmas & SSA

What does Christmas and Same-Sex Attraction have in common? Nothing, but we discussed both today.

Christmas & SSA

Merry Christmas everyone!!! This month we talk a little about Christmas: the origin of Santa Claus and why St. Nicholas is the champion of Christmas.

Then we discuss an article that hit the news Dec. 18th. Here is another article on this event, but I would not take all that this article says at face value as the National Catholic Reporter which claims itself as “The Independent News Source” is in fact often independent of Catholicism with its own slant and agenda.

If you would like to learn more about Same Sex Attraction (SSA) and church teaching please reference these two videos: The Third Way: Homosexuality and the Catholic Church and Desire of the Everlasting Hills. If you would like to read more about it here are two easy books by

Eve Tushnet Gay and Catholic: Accepting My Sexuality, Finding Community, Living My Faith

and Daniel Mattson Why I Don’t Call Myself Gay: How I Reclaimed My Sexual Reality and Found Peace

And if you want some serious essays here is Living the Truth in Love: Pastoral Approaches to Same-Sex Attraction

Here is an article I found helpful about how to judge sin, but not the person

Lastly, a resource I did not reference is an organization called “Courage” which does amazing work with both people who struggle with Same-Sex Attraction as well as with their parents. This organization is fully fitting with that Catholic Church’s teaching on Same-Sex Attraction. Check out the website.

And Lastly, Lastly here are the relevant paragraphs on Homosexuality from the Catechism of the Catholic Church as well as a few on marriage that follow.
